Aug 4, 2003 - Anders Electronics’ plastic displays win ‘most innovative product’ at Electronic Industry Design Awards 2003.
Anders Electronics, the UK’s leading LCD solution specialist, today announced that their flexible, plastic, electronic displays have won the 2003 Electronic Industry Design Award for the most innovative product.
London, 4 August 2003. Anders Electronics, the UK’s leading LCD solution specialist, today announced that their flexible, plastic, electronic displays have won the 2003 Electronic Industry Design Award for the most innovative product. Available across Europe from Anders Electronics, the technology has been developed by Israel-based display specialist, Citala and is manufactured by Picvue Electronics in Taiwan. The displays will be initially targeted at customers within the digital signage market.
The award recognises a highly innovative approach to an issue which has attracted attention from many major players, but has not - until now - been solved. Over recent years, vast amounts of money have been invested into the R&D of flexible/plastic displays, yet until now no product has left the labs and entered the market. Citala, however, has developed a technology known as APD (Active Pixel Displays), using an alternative to liquid crystal, called ONYX*. The resulting displays are free of glass components, comprised of plastic substrates, flexible, paper thin (300microns) and durable (including water resistant).
“We were certain that these revolutionary products were going to have a major impact on the market place”, commented Rob Anders, VP Business Development,

Anders Electronics, having developed a partnership with Citala Inc, has become the first company in Europe to establish a channel to market for these mass produced plastic displays.
